The Little Sisters of the Poor participated in WYD in Rome, Denver, Toronto, and will soon be present in Sydney.
In Rome: Little Sisters took part in the international meeting of young people in 1984, the international youth meeting on the occasion of the International Year of Youth and the first WYD celebrated in the dioceses in 1986. During the year 2000, they again served as volunteers and participated as pilgrims.
Denver 1993: Little Sisters and young people from homes in the USA joined with pilgrims who received hospitality at our home in that city.
Paris 1997: Sisters assisted as volunteers in various roles; an international group of young people joined with Little Sisters as pilgrims.
During the celebration held in Toronto in 2002, a group of Little Sisters and young people drove from New York City to Toronto for the event and enjoyed hospitality from the De LaSalle brothers.
WYD08 Sydney will soon arrive. Little Sisters are busy organizing the welcome of pilgrims to the home and novitiate. The congregation’s presence at the vocations expo will offer a meeting place for those seeking to learn about Jeanne Jugan and the call to serve the elderly poor. We hope to see you there!
